Canada seeks enhanced trade, defence ties with Qatar

Canada is working towards closer trade, investment and defence ties with Qatar, says the country’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Stefanie McCollum.

Canada wants to increase the volume of its trade with Qatar and attract more Qatari investments to the North American country, she added.

Talking to the local media recently, Ambassador McCollum said forging strong partnership with Qatar in trade and investment, security and defence, oil and gas, aerospace and infrastructure are among the priorities of the embassy for the year.

On the defence front, the envoy said Qatar and Canada are in the final stage of signing a cooperation agreement.
