Excited Qatar residents take their first ride on Doha Metro

As Doha Metro Red Line South opens for public today, excited locals and expats could be seen at the Wakrah station awaiting for the gates to open for their first ride. Loud cheers and clapping could be heard across as the train pulled in to the station.

Mowasalat yesterday had announced special deals for their Karwa taxis and also free feeder buses for metro commuters.

Speaking to The NEWS, one resident at the station said that he is excited for this first trip. "I have parked my car outside and am waiting to commute to my office. I would happily take the service daily if there is ample parking available," he said. Another resident was equally happy and waiting for the opening as he was traveling to his work place on Bankstreet.

Residents were seen clicking pictures and videos of their first metro ride.

Mowasalat to provide last mile connectivity was providing metrolink feeder buses from stations, along with Karwa taxis that provided service at a flat promotional fare of QR8 for metro commuters.
