First tea-packaging plant opens in Qatar

The first local factory producing tea, carrying the Lipton and Red Label brands, was opened in Doha on Sunday. 

Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed al Kuwari inaugurated the factory.

The new tea-packaging plant of the Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC) is located in the New Industrial Area that has advanced infrastructure and logistic services. The plant produces tea packs of different sizes.

“The opening of the plant is one of the fruits of Qatar’s ongoing efforts to achieve partnership with the private sector and support them, and encourage them to contribute to the national economy and achieve value addition. In addition it contributes to achieving self-sufficiency in many sectors, including the food products sector in line with National Vision 2030,” Kuwari said.

He also invited the private sector to take advantage of the various investment opportunities provided by Qatar in different sectors. 

 

HE Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Jabor al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, of QIMC, said Lipton and Red Label represent more than two-thirds of sales in the domestic market, and the involvement with a global company will be adding quality of the highest standards to the rest of the manufacturing plants in Qatar. 

The Lipton and Red Label brand are part of Unilever Worldwide.
