The Indian expatriate who lost his family of six in flash floods last week in Wadi Bani Khalid, has expressed his gratitude to the authorities for their exceptional support in recovering the bodies.
Sardar Fazal Ahmed, an Indian expatriate who works as a pharmacist in Ibra, lost six family members during the flash floods in Wadi Bani Khalid on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
Recently, the authorities recovered four bodies from a flooded wadi that were of two adult women, a man and a child. Sardar identified the bodies to be of his parents – Khan Khairullah Sattar and Shabana Begum, his wife Arshi Khan, and his four-year-old daughter, Sidra Khan.
Talking exclusively to Times of Oman, Sardar said that he does not have enough words to thank all the authorities involved in recovering the bodies of his family members.
“I would like to thank the Royal Oman Police, Public Authority for Civil Defence Ambulance (PACDA) and the rescue teams involved in recovering the four bodies of my family members including parents, wife and daughter. It is because of their efforts, hard work and dedication that the bodies could be recovered.
“I salute the authorities in Oman for showing such impeccable support especially in the Holy Month of Ramadan where all were fasting and still continued the search for my family members. May Allah bless them all and their families for all that they have done for me and my family. I don’t have enough words to thank them,” Sardar said.
The search for the remaining two missing family members – his new-born infant son Nooh Khan and two-year-old son Zaid Khan – is still ongoing.
Sardar said that he is hopeful of finding the remaining two bodies soon. “With the amount of support and help being provided by the police, PACDA and rescue teams, I am hopeful that the bodies of my two sons will be recovered soon.”
On Sunday, May 26, PACDA said in a statement online that they are continuing the search for the last two family members. “The efforts to find the lost family in Wadi Bani Khalid continue to this day. The search for the last two will continue from along Wadi Bani Khalid to the areas of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate,” PACDA added.
