Move to implement fingerprint system in schools

Based on preparations to apply the fingerprint attendance system for all male and female teachers, Ministry of Education has been working on determining the places to install these systems in schools prior to the start of the coming academic year in order to launch operations, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed educational sources.

They explained that the number of devices required in each school differs based on the administrative and educational density of that school. Some schools require up to four devices while some others may need just two. They are 900 public schools that require a total of approximately 3,000 fingerprint attendance devices.

The sources revealed that Ministry of Education has allotted about KD 1 million for implementing the decision related to the use of fingerprint attendance system in schools.

Meanwhile, Acting Undersecretary at Ministry of Public Works Eng Khalid Al-Kazi has decided to form legal and technical investigations committees for two projects affiliated to the Health Engineering Sector based on the request of the sector’s assistant undersecretary, reports Al- Qabas daily.

According to the decision, the committee should investigate all items in the two contracts in order to identify any financial, legal and technical irregularities and loopholes in the contracts. Detailed reports on the proposals and the results have to be prepared in order to avoid repetition of violations and implement the important recommendations.
