Mowasalat deploys electric buses to transport Amir Cup fans

More than 10,000 spectators and 6,000 students transported to Al Janoub Stadium

Mowasalat (Karwa) successfully deployed a number of eco-friendly electrical buses to transport spectators to Al Janoub (Wakrah) Stadium for the Amir Cup final.

The new measure, according to a statement by Mowasalat, was aimed at enhancing sustainable environmental development and helping Qatar achieve the goals of National Vision 2030.

Mowasalat deployed 115 buses to carry more than 10,000 out of the total 38,678 spectators, while 75 buses ferried over 6,000 students.

Wheelchair facilities were also put in place by Mowasalat in order to ensure accessibility of specially-abled persons. Besides, Mowasalat joined hands with Qatar Rail in the operation of Metro Link feeder buses.

The statement said Mowasalat was able to make a significant positive impact on the spectators as its buses achieved a record loading and off-loading time of only one minute during the transfer of passengers to and from Al Janoub Stadium.

Fahad Saad al-Qahtani, Mowasalat Chief Executive Officer, said several projects by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and other stakeholders have greatly contributed to improving the performance and integration of the public transport system in the country. "The fruitful collaboration with Qatar Football Association, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and Qatar Rail contributed significantly to the success of Mowasalat's tasks during the event."
