Police arrest expat for fraud

An expat has been arrested for claiming to be able to give his victim's OMR 2 million in exchange for a small sum of money, the Royal Oman Police revealed.

According to the police, the African national managed to scam a citizen into giving him OMR 35,000 in order to receive a bag with false papers which would provide the victim with OMR 2 million.

In a statement, ROP said, "The Directorate General of Criminal Investigation arrested an accused from an African nationality on charges of frauding a citizen into believing he had an ability to double the amount of money."

 

A source in the Royal Oman Police said that "The defendant asked the victim for OMR 20,000 in return for handing over a bag containing false papers through which he could get OMR 2 million."

"The victim was also asked to pay an additional amount of OMR 15,000 to open the bag," the police added.

Officers search the suspect's home in Athaiba and found, "Various tools used to practice sorcery," said ROP
