‘Royal Family Member’ sent to Prosecution in graft case

A member of the ruling family has been referred to the Public Prosecution for his involvement in a corruption case which was uncovered by the Kuwait Municipality, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The Sheikh is accused of transgression on state lands by renting them as restrooms. The sources told the daily His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak has ordered the ministers to refer any violator to the Prosecution, even if the person is from the ruling family.

 

The sources pointed out the names of other persons involved in the scam will soon be announced as the investigations unfold. The ministers support referral to Prosecution as the government is determined to fight corruption and take most severe punitive measures against those involved.

Government sources said they were surprised by the pressure exerted by MPs to cover up some corruption issues in a number of state ministries for various reasons
