Four men stood on trial before the Dubai Criminal Court for stealing 100 Emirates ID cards and selling them. One of the accused was an employee at Emirates Post Al Karama branch, Emarat Al Youm reported.

The director of the security department at Emirates Post said to the public prosecution that the first defendant's job was to receive Emirates ID card shipments from the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship and store them in a safe room. The Asian man was also responsible for handing over the ID cards to their owners.

After complaints regarding the disappearance of ID cards were filed, the technicians at the centre asked to review the surveillance cameras. The suspect was caught on camera stealing the cards.

The accused allegedly stole the 100 IDs on three occasions during different days. He confessed to the police that he had stolen 100 IDs and sold them to the second accused on the basis of a prior agreement between them.

The second defendant admitted to buying the cards from the first defendant at Dh80 per card and selling it to the third defendant for Dh100 per card. He, in turn, sold the Emirates IDs to a fourth defendant for Dh105.
