Will minimum salary be increased to Dh20,000 a month?

Dh17,500 is the minimum salary for government employees in the emirate at the moment.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, announced that the emirate was conducting a household income and expenditure survey to identify spending trends and measure wellbeing levels among families.

Sheikh Sultan said that if the results showed that the minimum standard of living was achievable by an income of Dh20,000 per month, then the minimum salary would be raised to that amount, 24.ae reported.

 

Sheikh Sultan said in a phone call via a radio show that Dh17,500 is the minimum salary for government employees in the emirate at the moment.

The Sharjah government employees 14,000 staff, and the government is working on creating more jobs, the Sharjah Ruler added.
