Departing OFWs First to Receive iDOLE

A day after the much-anticipated OFW ID was formally introduced, guidelines on its issuance are being prepared, an official of the Department of Labor and Employment said.

DOLE Undersecretary Dominador Say said rules on the implementation are thoroughly being discussed to ensure that everything has been covered.

“The guidelines are one of the matters being readied as well as other required documents,” he said, adding that the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, an attached agency to DOLE, will announce the guidelines.

“As soon as everything is done and before the full implementation if the ID system, the POEA will announce the guidelines, FAQs & other info needed by the public,” Say added.

The ID system for migrant Filipino workers, which formally replaced the overseas employment certificate, was officially launched on Wednesday in Malacanang.

Initially, departing OFWs will be the ones that will be given the ID, also known as iDOLE.

While an online application as well as the payment system for the card will be set up by the government, OFWs will not be charged since their employers are required to shoulder the fee for the iDOLE application.
