Ministry of Manpower extends visa ban to include more professions

Oman's Ministry of Manpower has extended the temporary ban on hiring expats to four more jobs in the private sector as part of the Omanisation process.

The ban will be extended for another six months starting from August 5, 2019, the Ministry announced.

The decision extends the temporary ban on expat workers in certain professions in the fields of IT, accounting and finance, sales and marketing, management and human resources, insurance, media, medical, airports, engineering, as well as roles that involve technicians. 

 


According to a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry said: “The period of the ban on permits to bring temporary expatriate manpower into private sector establishments for the professions specified in Ministerial Decision No. 73/2019, shall continue for a period of six months from August 5, 2019.
