Oman and Botswana Launch Massive Solar Power Plant

Officials laid the foundation stone for a massive solar power plant today. The new 500-megawatt facility sits in the city of Maun in Botswana.

Advanced battery energy storage systems will support this huge solar project. This exciting event happened just three days after leaders signed the initial agreements. This rapid progress proves the strong commitment between Oman and Botswana.

Leaders Attend the Ceremony

Botswana President Doma Gideon Poku attended the special ceremony today. Oman Investment Authority Chairman Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi also joined him.

This project perfectly reflects a recent meeting between President Poku and Sultan Haitham. The two national leaders met at Al-Baraka Palace earlier this week.

O-Green Leads the Charge

O-Green will implement this ambitious energy project. This clean energy company operates under the Oman Investment Authority. O-Green will partner directly with the Botswana Power Corporation.

O-Green CEO Mustafa bin Mohammed Al Hinai praised the new development. He promised his team will build the project using the highest global standards. He noted the company will execute the construction in careful phases.

Transforming the National Grid

This Maun facility represents the first step in a massive energy plan. The two nations eventually want to develop 3,000 megawatts of clean energy together.

This single solar station will completely double Botswana's current electricity generating capacity. The advanced battery storage will enhance national grid reliability during peak usage times. Leaders hope this integrated platform turns Botswana into a regional energy trading hub.
