Saudi Arabia is in need of at least 1,000 Filipino nurses while Abu Dhabi is hiring 150 emergency medical technicians, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced on Monday.

In a report by Sandra Aguinaldo aired over "24 Oras," the POEA said that the hiring of the workers would be under a government-to-government scheme which ensures that the rights of the Filipino workers will be protected.

Qualified applicants for the said posts are not required to pay a placement fee.

“Sa 1,000 na female nurses po natin, ang benepisyo po na ino-offer ng Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ay paid annual vacation with free round trip economy ticket, as well as free food and accommodation,” POEA Deputy Administrator Ventura Plan said.

The monthly salary for nurses is pegged at P58,000, which could still increase on a yearly basis.

According to the POEA, the applicants should be registered nurses, have been in the practice of the profession for at least two years and have a solid experience on being on duty in the operating room and the emergency room, among other qualifications.

The deadline for the submission of application is on November 9 for regional offices and November 16 for the main POEA office.

Interested applicants are advised to submit their applications ahead of the deadline.

As for local employment, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jobstreet.com to aid job seekers. 

“Nalaman namin na merong three million Filipinos na naghahanap ng blue collar job, kaya gumawa kami ng paraan para mabilis silang makahanap ng trabaho,” Labor Secretary Silverstre Bello III said.
