FIFA asks Qatar about expanding World Cup 2022 with other Gulf countries

FIFA is thinking about to grow the Qatar 2022 World Cup from 32 groups to 48 with a plan to explain the severe strategic relations between host Qatar and a Saudi Arabian-drove alliance. Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president, has said that such an expansion is “possible” and “feasible”.

Gianni Infantino trusts that such an activity could help rebonding the Gulf locale. As he says the World Cup ought to grow from 32 to 48 groups by playing a portion of the matches in stadiums in the simple countries who have cut ties with Qatar and shut outskirts which incorporate land, air and ocean entry. 

 

Qatar will have 8 stadiums to have 64 games, notwithstanding, including 16 more countries would mean aggregate 80 games which would require more stadiums. 

It is important that FIFA participation has just voted in favor of extension for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. 

Infantino solicited the Emir from Qatar in the event that he would consider such an extension for the 2022 world container also, enabling matches to be held in other Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

Gianni Infantino said, speaking at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, "We have decided as well to increase the number of teams participating in the World Cup final tournaments, from 32 to 48. This will happen in 2026. Will it happen already in 2022? We are looking into it. If it is possible, why not?"

Infantino said, "This is something that would probably be a nice message."

“You will have a bigger chance,” he said. “It is possible... It is feasible. We are discussing with our Qatari friends. We are discussing with many other friends in the region. We hope we have it happen. We always have to try.”
