Qatar's Ministry of Interior implemented the cancellation of exit permits for expats barring only five percent staff who will still need permission, residents have been waiting for an update on how to check if they can leave the country without any hassle. 
 
Ministry of Interior updated its website to add a page where one can enter the Qatar Identity number and check their exit permit status online.

The recent amendment to Law No. 21 of 2015, stipulated that the expatriates working under labour law shall have the right to temporarily exit or depart the country permanently during the validity of the employment contract, and that the employer has the right to apply in advance to the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs a list of employees, who he believes should get permission to leave because of the nature of their work, provided that the list do not exceed 5% of the total number of employees.

This new amendment was lauded by the residents but many were still unsure if they fell in the category of those required.
