4. Explore Katara Cultural Village

The Cultural Village was built for the Doha Tribeca Film Festival in 2010, and since then it has been a centre for Qatari art, architecture and culture.

Visit the impressive amphitheatre, gawp at the mosaic-covered mosque, take a ride on a buggy down to the beach where you will find a host of international restaurants.

5. Wander around The Pearl

 

The Pearl is a massive development that is newly built on an island. It is mainly residential buildings, a marina, shops, cafes and restaurants – like a city within a city. Chill at the coffee shops dotted around the marina, window shop and maybe daydream about buying a flat in their newest development complete with Venetian canals and colourful buildings.

For a bit of fun head to the waterside, where you can find a family friendly water park, and there are plans for more amusement parks in the future.

6. Head to the Museum of Islamic Art

 

The Museum stands on its own island off the Corniche in Doha, near the Dhow Harbour. It was designed by renowned American-Chinese architect I M Pei after he spent six months travelling around the Islamic world to get inspiration.

The result is a must visit in Doha – an incredible building, the top of which is designed to resemble the eyes of a woman in a burka.

Take a guided tour through the many galleries as there are some very unique treasures here. Before you leave, make sure you visit the beautifully placed arches for a selfie, which is possibly the best photo spot in the city.

7. Ride on a dhow across the Persian Sea

For the best views of Doha, take a ride in a dhow – a traditional Arab mast ship – across the sea. They usually leave from the Dhow Harbour and go right past the Museum of Islamic Art. You get the best views of the Doha skyline from the boat.
