Museum of Islamic Art-
Ranked #1 among the top 7 places. It has a huge and wonderful collection of ceramics, Islamic glass, metal work, manuscripts, jewelry and textiles that are collected from over 3 continents and belong to the early 7th to 19th century.
Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum-
Ranked #2. It has the finest and most important pieces of the Manuscripts, Fine Arts and Militaria. It also contains a large vehicle collection comprising vintage and classic cars that include a stream car from the early 19th century, rare Ford T Models, Desoto models from 1940s, Buick Models from 1930s and Dodge utility vehicles. There are also motorcycles, trucks and old registration plates on exhibit.
State Grand Mosque-
Ranked #3, one of the largest mosques in Qatar and is renamed after “Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab” reformer of the 18th century. It is located high on a hill just south of Corniche, giving an overview of Qatar Sports Club in Doha’s west bay. It is a fascinating mix of both Arabic and modern architecture, spread over an area of 175,000 sq. m with air conditioned central hall where 10,000 men can offer prayers at a time. This mosque can house 30,000 worshipers at a time including the outdoor area.
The Corniche Doha-
Ranked #4. It is 4.4 miles (7 kilometers) long palm-fringed promenade and also the dual carriageway that stretches in horseshoe shape around Doha bay and the city’s sea front. It is lined with many luxurious hotels, apartments, clubs, important government buildings, manicured parks with family facilities and public buildings such as museums and libraries. Many people love to jog and stroll along this Corniche, especially during the gentle nights, taking in the pleasing sights of the city and Arabian Gulf.
Katara Cultural Village-
At #5 amongst the top 7 places, is located on the eastern coast between Pearl and West Bay and is spread over 1,000,000 square meters. It got soft-opened in October during DTFF (Doha Tribeca Film Festival). Many Qatari Organizations have their offices in Katara, the buildings and facilities here were impulsively arranged randomly in order to give a look and feel like a “Traditional Qatari Al Fereej”.
Aspire Park Doha-
Ranked #6 in the list, covers an area of 88 hectares and is the biggest park of Doha. It is a great place to have family outings and picnics, with a great overview of Aspire tower especially at night. It has beautiful fountains, playgrounds and many other fun features. It has the only lake in Qatar and a small hill, which can be a good venue for family get-together; it also has a coffee shop where many types of beverages can be bought, with different kinds of trees, both rare and common.
Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art:
Ranked #7 offers an Arab perspective on Modern Art, supports creativity, endorses dialogue and inspires fresh ideas. It is the first institution of its kind in Qatar. It is spread over 5,500 square meters and has an assemblage of more than 6,000 artworks that gives a rare comprehensive view of modern Arab art.
