Father accidentally shoots daughter with air rifle in northern Saudi Arabia

A young girl in the province of Qurayyat was shot in the head while her father was trying to test an air rifle in the courtyard of his home.

Al-Jouf police said that a “four-and-a-half-year-old girl was admitted to Qurayat General Hospital on Wednesday morning after she was shot in the head while her father was testing an air rifle in the courtyard of their house.”

The police media spokesman in Al-Jawf, Lt. Col. Yazeed bin Saud Al-Noumas, said in a statement to Al-Mowaten news website that this information was released in response to what was circulated on social media on the extraction of a bullet from the head of a girl at Prince Mutaib bin Abdul Aziz Hospital.

He added that “the gun shot caused a head wound, and she was admitted to the intensive care unit. The weapon in possession of her father was seized, and the prosecution was notified by virtue of jurisdiction.”

Al-Noumas confirmed that the little girl was transferred to Prince Mutaib bin Abdul Aziz Hospital in Sakaka, and then medically evacuated to a hospital in Riyadh.
