Man arrested in Saudi for robbing a woman from his car

A man was arrested in the Saudi city of Riyadh for a violent snatch-and-grab, which all happened to be recorded on CCTV.

The Saudi woman was walking though the Al Shifa area of Riyadh when a white saloon car with dark tinted windows approached dangerously close. The driver then leaned out of the window and grabbed the victim’s handbag, causing her to lose balance and tumble on the ground.

The shocking incident, which was caught on camera, was uploaded on social networking sites on Saturday.

Residents circulated the video across social networking sites as they urged authorities to identify the suspect and bring him to justice.

A media spokesperson from Riyadh Police told the Saudi news portal Sabq that the robbery took place earlier this week, and confirmed that the suspect has been apprehended.

“Regarding the video that was circulating through social networking sites, we can confirm that we have launched a thorough investigation into the incident. The Department of Security Patrols in the region of Riyadh were able to identify the suspect and arrested the Saudi suspect, who was in his 30s,” said the police spokesperson, who was quoted in Sabq on Monday.

The victim was also reported to have sustained bruises and minor injuries in the fall.
