A Filipino was killed after he was stabbed by another Filipino in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

In a statement, the DFA said the victim was a 29-year-old from Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, who worked as a family driver in Jeddah. 

The suspect, a 34-year-old from Capiz, also worked as a driver for the same family, according to the Philippine Consulate General.

The suspect remains in police custody after he was apprehended immediately after the incident on Sunday, when the two "allegedly engaged in a fistfight in front of the house of their employer that ended in the victim getting fatally stabbed by his fellow driver."

The Consulate General and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Jeddah will extend full assistance to both Filipinos and their families.

This is the second stabbing incident in as many weeks involving OFWs in Saudi Arabia.

On Sep. 26, a Filipino migrant worker who was terminated from work was shot dead after allegedly killing his manager and co-worker by stabbing them in Farasan Island, Saudi Arabia.
