A baby is heard screaming as artillery shells are fired at injured women and children cowering in the countryside in Syria.
The shocking video was taken in Douma, near Damascus, where Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is still fighting rebel forces opposed to his Moscow-backed regime.
The video was posted by the Syrian Civil Defence organisation, better known as the White Helmets, but it is not clear who fired the shells or how many people were killed or injured.
Douma is a rebel-held suburb of the capital, Damascus.
Several people responded to the video on Twitter. Pam Montgomery tweeted: 'Listen to that poor baby crying. My heart is broken. What a cruel cruel world.'
Countess Markievicz tweeted to the White Helmets: 'I don't know how you keep doing what you do. You're amazing. Stay safe.'
