Now You Can (Finally) Pay For IOS Transactions With Your PayPal Account

Thanks to a partnership between Apple and PayPal you can finally put all the money you've got in your account to good use. The two companies have announced a partnership that will allow PayPal as a payment option on iOS devices. If you're lacking a debit or credit card, or just want to use your PayPal balance to cover media purchases, now's your chance.

The feature is long overdue. Users have been able to use PayPal to pay for iTunes purchases on Macs and PCs since 2004. To enable PayPal as a payment method, open your App Store or iTunes Store app, and select your Apple ID at the bottom. On the Account Settings page, select Payment Information and choose PayPal. Once you login, your default payment method will switch from your credit or debit card to your PayPal account.

Nearly all purchases made on your iOS device, whether it be apps, music, or subscription services will be charged to your PayPal account. Unfortunately, since Apple handles Apple Pay purchases, you can't use your PayPal account for NFC-based transactions according to a PayPal spokesperson.

Though your PayPal account might show your Venmo balance, you won't be able to use the money in the peer-to-peer payment service to fund your app habit. Right now, though some businesses that accept PayPal can accept payment from customers' Venmo balances, the feature is currently unavailable when purchasing with iOS. Here's hoping PayPal eventually changes their mind.
