Abu Dhabi Launches Initiative To Train 20,000 Government Employees In Artificial Intelligence

Building An AI-Native Workforce

The Abu Dhabi Government launched a massive artificial intelligence training program today. The ‘AiNative’ initiative aims to equip 20,000 government employees with practical AI skills. Officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the Ai Everything exhibition in the capital. The emirate wants to become the world’s first AI-native government by the year 2027. Microsoft UAE General Manager Amr Kamel highlighted the importance of training actual human workers. He stated becoming an AI-native government is about people as much as technology. The program will train employees to use powerful tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot. They will learn to apply these tools confidently and responsibly in their daily tasks.

Expanding Access To The Public

The curriculum includes specialized, function-specific certifications covering highly technical areas like data and coding. The government will eventually open this free program to all Abu Dhabi citizens and residents. The public can access the training through Tomouh, the government’s AI-powered educational learning app. The program shows users how AI can help manage finances and run small businesses. The Department of Government Enablement developed AiNative in close collaboration with leading industry experts. They partnered directly with OpenAI, Microsoft, and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. A successful pilot program is already underway within various essential government departments.

Turning Bold Ambitions Into Impact

OpenAI MENA Head of Enterprise Farouk El Hamzawi praised the initiative heavily. He noted that becoming an AI-native nation requires building a highly AI-confident population. He stated DGE is helping turn Abu Dhabi’s bold technological ambitions into everyday impact. The launch follows the massive rollout of Microsoft 365 Copilot to 35,000 government employees.
