DFA confirms death of OFW in Dubai

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the death of an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Dubai who died of profuse bleeding following an alleged drug intake to abort her baby.

The OFW, identified as 33-year old Angel Trasadas, died while on duty as a part-time domestic helper in Dubai International City on July 29.

The foreign affairs department added that Philippine Consul-General Paul Raymund Cortes in Dubai had received request for assistance from the family of Trasadas, reported GMA News.

DFA assured that help will be extended to the family, particularly on the repatriation of the OFW’s remains.

No specific date on Trasadas’ repatriation, however, has been set as investigation surrounding her demise is still ongoing.

“As Angel’s death is still under investigation, authorities in Dubai would not be able to release her remains yet,” DFA said.

“However, the Consulate General is in close coordination with authorities to ensure that Angel can be brought home and reunited with her loved ones as soon as authorities conclude their investigation,” DFA added.
