Dubai-based Pinoy wins second annual FIBA Photo Contest

A Filipino architect based in Dubai won the second annual FIBA Photo Contest with a photo depicting the housing shortage in the Philippines.

Mario Bejagan Cardenas, who has previously won awards for his photography,  became the second grand winner of the FIBA contest with 'My home, my playground,' a piece from a documentary series set in a Filipino cemetery.

"Hundreds of families have made this city graveyard their home as authorities grapple with rising population and housing shortage," Cardenas said of the photo that was chosen over 1,200 others that came from 70 different countries.

'My home, my playground' will be housed at the House of Basketball at FIBA's Global Headquarters in Mies, Switzerland until October 30, 2018.

Other winners include 'Basketball and Fashion' by Russian photographer Stepan Chubaev and 'Haiti before Earthquake' by Spaniard JM Lopez.
