Tracking the Upward Trend in Prices
Dubai gold prices moved closer to their highest level of August recently. Jewelry buyers are facing rates that have risen steadily since the month began. The 24K variety was priced at Dh531 per gram on Monday morning. This shows a slight increase from Dh527.50 on the previous Sunday. The 22K gold variety also climbed to Dh491.75 from Dh488.50. Monday's rate puts 24K gold just slightly below its mid-August peak. The prices remain close to the upper end of this month's range.
Significant Changes Over a Short Period
Buyers tracking gold since early August have noticed a sizable change. The 24K rate stood at Dh487.25 on the first day of August. This means it has gained nearly 9 percent over two weeks. The increase has been quite similar for the 22K gold variety. Prices moved quickly throughout the first week of the month. Gold began August below Dh500 per gram for the 24K variety. It reached Dh533.25 on August 12 before easing slightly.
International Factors Influencing the Market
Internationally, gold extended a two-week advance and traded near $4,400 an ounce. Economic data from the United States influenced the value of the dollar. A weaker dollar often makes gold cheaper for buyers using other currencies. Gold's recovery has coincided with renewed investor demand globally. Increased central bank purchases, including buying by China, also support the price. Uncertainty around global energy supplies continues to keep investors cautious. Consumers should monitor these trends carefully when planning their jewelry purchases.
