UAE and Afghan signed MoU on workers

The UAE and Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of manpower.

The MoU was signed by Nasser Bin Thani Al Hameli, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and; Faizullah Zaki, Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled of Afghanistan; on the sidelines of the 107th session of the International Labour Conference being held in Geneva.

"The MoU comes as part of the keenness to develop the existing friendly relations between both countries by establishing corporate partnership to improve the provisional contractual employment of Afghani manpower in the UAE, for the mutual good of both countries," Al Hamli said.

Al Hamli also stressed the importance of the MoU in organizing the work of the labour supply offices in the country to boost transparency while bringing in labourers to the UAE.

The memo will also guarantee compliance to the rule of law by all parties concerned in hiring and employing Afghan workers in the UAE, he added.

The memo, he said, will foster cooperation between the two countries in using technology and exchange of information and studies in the labour field.

For his part, Faizullah expressed his pleasure to have signed the MoU and the attached agreement with the UAE, emphasizing the profound friendly and cooperation ties between both countries in the area of labour and employment.

He hailed the laws governing the labour relationships in the UAE that maintain the laborers' rights, including the Afghani ones.

Attended the signing ceremony was ambassador Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organisations in Geneva, and Saif Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
