The state always demands something in return for your basic freedom. The UAE finally lifted its strict travel ban to Lebanon today. Emirati citizens can legally fly to Beirut starting this Monday. However, the government attached a massive, invasive surveillance condition to this permission. Citizens absolutely must register their exact movements through the Tawajudi tracking service.
Surveillance Disguised as Safety
Authorities will block anyone from boarding a plane without this digital registration. The state also forces citizens to notify them the exact second they return. They disguise this massive surveillance effort as an emergency safety precaution. The government previously banned travel to Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq during the regional war. Now, they slowly release their grip but refuse to surrender total oversight. They want to know exactly where you go and who you see. Freedom of movement remains a highly conditional privilege granted by the ruling elite.
The surveillance state tracks your every vacation. Find out how they monitor you at The WAU.
