It will take months and perhaps maybe even years to fully recover from the California wildfires
North California will take at least months and likely years to fully recover from devastating wildfires that ripped through the state earlier in the month. The wildfires destroyed at least 8,900 structures and killing 42 people, according to Sonoma County officials.
Sonoma County Sheriff Rob Giordano said that these kinds of natural disasters cannot be controlled and cannot be fought overnight. He added that it will impact the lives of the community living close to the affected areas.
Giordano spoke to people who observed a service at a college in Santa Rosa to honor the lives of the people who lost their lives in the wildfires. At least 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes due to one of the worst wildfires in the history of the state.
The EPA has looked at 740 properties, while the Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided assistance of more than $6million to the displaced families. Officials have estimated that it will take more than 6 months to clean up the debris and other hazardous materials from the affected areas. The total losses caused due to the wildfires are estimated to be more than $1 billion.
