Protests Take Place at US Open on Sunday as Trump Attends Tournament

The protests of women's advocacy group Ultraviolet against US President Donald Trump take place on Sunday as the president attends the US Women’s Open tennis tournament, media reported.

A dozen of protesters, mainly women, gathered at the Trump National Golf Course in US State of New Jersey, where the tournament is being held. The demonstrators are wearing anti-Trump t-shirts, the Hill newspaper reported.

Trump visited the US Open on Sunday for a third time in a week as he was in attendance both on Saturday and Friday and even thanked his supporters for “out-numbering” the protesters.

“I am at the @USGA #USWomensOpen. An amateur player is co-leading for the first time in many decades — very exciting!,” the US president wrote on Twitter on Monday.

The protests against Trump regularly take place both in the United States and abroad, when the US president pays official visits to the foreign countries. The US leader is criticized by his opponents over his decisions in the sphere of environment, migration as well as for the repeated derogatory comments with regard to women.

Last week, hundreds of people took to the streets of Paris amid Bastille Day celebrations to protest against Trump's visit to the French capital.
