Ahead of US President Donald Trump's maiden China visit starting tomorrow, a hashtag 'Trump's visit to China' has received more than two million page views on China's version of Twitter, said Chinese state media.
The Chinese public appears to be keenly interested in, among other things, knowing whether Trump, a prolific tweeter,+ will open an account on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like platform, reported the Communist Party-run Global Times.
Chinese people also want to know whether Trump will visit the Great Wall, and what outfits his wife Melania Trump might wear during the Wednesday-Friday visit.
"China is pulling out all the stops in its preparations for the leader who has fascinated many with his outspoken remarks and strong personality," said the Global Times article.
The US President is expected to get what Beijing is calling "a state visit-plus" experience.
"A 'state visit-plus' refers to arrangements that could show the personal relationship between the two presidents and the places will be typical areas that can help the US president have a better understanding of Chinese history and culture," said Wu Xinbo, director of Fudan
University's Center for American Studies in Shanghai, to Global Times.
Expect surprises, said another Chinese academic.
