Dara Khosrowshahi, the chief executive of Expedia has been chosen as the new leader for Uber. The other two candidates who contended for the position were Meg Whitman, chief executive of Hewlett Packard Enterprises, and Jeff Immelt, the departing chairman of GE.
Khosrowshahi has contributed greatly to a huge expansion of the online travel company in 60 countries. A highly valued startup in the Silicon Valley, Uber may be offering a massive public stock in the year to come.
According to analysts, Khosrowshahi is faced with a series of Herculean tasks like redoing the company's culture and bringing the company out of lawsuits and competition. Uber is at a low point with back-to-back controversies and removal of the chief executive and co-founder Travis Kalanick.
