Man drinks 2.5 litres of milk at airport because he didn't want to waste it

A Chinese tourist gulped down 2.5 litres of milk when airport security in Australia told him he cannot carry the large amounts of liquid on the plane.

The young tourist from Zhengzhou, east China's Henan province, had bought a 3 litre milk jug in Australia and wanted to carry it with him back home. But when he was stopped at the security checkpoint and told him he had violated the 100ml hand luggage liquid restriction, the man decided not to waste the milk and drank it instead.

The tourist's friend filmed the man gulping down the huge jug of milk in one go as amused passengers watched on. "We were not allowed to bring the milk on the flight, so my friend decided to drink all of it at the airport. I've never seen him drink so much milk before,' the man's friend, surnamed Nan, said.

According to reports in Daily Mail, Nan told video news site Pear on Wednesday that they had wanted to bring home the milk because it was 'very cheap'. "It's way cheaper to buy milk in Australia than in China. It's cheaper than getting water there," Nan added.

While Australian supermarkets have been selling milk at AUD$1 (4.81 yuan) a litre, milk in China particularly imported ones could cost up to 60 yuan per litre. Locally produced ones usually cost around 11 yuan to 13 yuan per litre.

The video of the Chinese tourist went viral after it was posted on social media and users compared his actions with a scene from the popular 2010 Chinese comedy film 'Lost on Journey'. In the movie, Niu Geng, a migrant worker who works as a milk extraction technician, gulps down a gallon of milk when stopped by airport security and ends up in the bathroom several times during the flight.

One social media user wrote: 'This is exactly what happened in the movie Lost on Journey!' While another wrote: 'Australian milk really does taste better!'
