Video: Plane engine catches fire, passengers jump onto wing

Clip of panicking passengers has gone viral.

Three passengers climbed onto the wing of a Boeing 737 aircraft after the plane's engine caught on fire, recently.

The two men and woman claimed that the cabin crew ignored the panicking passengers and didn't instruct anyone regarding the fire, Independent reported.

A video of the engine catching fire, recorded by one of the passengers onboard, shows that the Utair airplane was preparing for take-off from Moscow's Vnukovo airport to a city in southwest of Russia.

"This was an ordinary situation, the plane was in order, passengers were in no danger," a Utair spokesperson said.

The fire was reportedly caused by an air flow that disrupted the engine as it started.

The cabin crew was able to eventually persuade the three passengers who fled through the emergency exit that this was a normal incident.

However, they were detained for questioning.

All 202 passengers including crew members were evacuated to another aircraft, with no injuries reported.
