Gang attacked people in the area, as the mother slept with her daughters
An infant was murdered by goons in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, after a gang attacked the area late on Thursday night.
According to a report by Indian newspaper Times of India, the incident took place in the Meghaninagar area of the city. As 45-year-old Laxmi Patni slept outside her house with her daughters, the gang of five to six men attacked the area, attempting to establish their supremacy, according to the police. They attacked the people in the area with wooden logs and iron pipes.
“Satish who wanted to establish his supremacy in the area hit the 20-day toddler with wooden log on his head. He was taken to civil hospital but was declared dead. We registered a case of murder against the gang and have arrested two accused,” Police Inspector PG Sarvaiya of Meghaninagar police station said according to the report.
Online, several social media users expressed outrage at the incident, questioning why there was a rise in violence against children.

Another Twitter user @MManan1313 shared a news report of the incident in a Gujarati newspaper, writing: “20-day girl child killed by bootleggers - drunkards in home, action taken only on protests, why?”
Tweeting in Hindi, @Pradipspeaks_ wrote: “Day after day, such incidents have made me lose my faith in humanity. Such incidents are happening every day. What is our government doing? When will action be taken against such people? When will they be hanged? …”
