In another case of religious profanity, pages of the Quran were found strewn near a local bus stand in the Muslim dominated district of Malerkotla on Sunday which caused uneasiness among the security agencies. A case has been registered and identity of the miscreants has not yet been released.
SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu added that CCTV footage is being reviewed and 15 teams have been assigned to investigate the case as security agencies desperately try to keep the situation from getting out of hand. Residents have also come forward with information in regards to the case as it seems that the motive behind the incident is to create communal tension.
