I-T raids son-in-law of former Karnataka CM SM Krishna, owner of Cafe Coffee Day chain

Senior officers of Income Tax Department, Karnataka and Goa region carried out inspections in the various company offices/ properties owned by V G Siddharatha, son-in-law of former Karnataka chief minister SM Krishna.

According to the sources, officers carried out inspections in Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) headquarters located near Nalluru gate of the city.
"Raids were ongoing and officials are searching for evidences of tax evasion," IT Joint Commissioner S Ramesh said, adding " The number of locations that were being raided and other details will be disclosed only after the search ends."

 

Over 20 locations in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Chikmagalur are being raided by senior I-T officers from Karnataka and Goa regions.
VG Sidhartha is also the founder-owner of popular Cafe Coffee Day chain of cafes.

Inspections were carried out in the offices of two estates in Mudigere taluk, a residential school office in Chikkamagaluru, and the Serai Resorts. According to sources, an assistant commissioner rank officer from Goa is leading the inspections in various locations of Chikkamagalur district.

In Chennai too, Sical Logistics Private Ltd, a company belonging to the family is being searched.

After spending 46 years of his political life as a Congressman, S M Krishna, Siddhartha's father-in-law, joined the BJP in March this year.
S M Krishna has also served as the external affairs minister in the UPA government.
