Raza Hmdani, district police officer, claimed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters exchanged fire with those from the secularist Awami National Party (ANP) in Swabi, in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The injured have been identified as Muktair, Saleem and Shahzad, all PTI supporters and have been taken to a local hospital.
The PTI is expected to win control of the province.
According to local media, a contingent of police has arrived at the site and the situation is back under control.
This is the first eruption of violence on the day of the General Election.
At least five different outbursts of violence took place in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the month leading up to the election.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has been informed of the issue.
