Qatar on Wednesday inaugurated a visa centre in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the ‘Qatar Visa Centers Programme’ to facilitate and streamline procedures for bringing expatriates to the country.
The Qatar Visa Center in Nepal is part of the opening of 20 centers in eight countries -- Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia and Tunisia. These centres will speed up the visa procedures.
Nepal is the fifth country where a visa centre has been opened following Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. These centres have proved to be a big success in providing premium, simplified and more advanced services.
The centre provides facilities for those who have initial approval for entry visas to Qatar to complete the registration of their biometrics, medical examinations and the signing of contracts electronically through a unified channel, thus saving time and effort.
The centre complies with international standards that ensure greater transparency, traceability, as well as the ability to track and improve procedures.
Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal HE Yousef Mohammed al Hail said the opening of the Qatar Visa Center in Nepal aims to strengthen ties between the two countries.
He said Qatar made Nepal one of the first eight countries to launch visa centres abroad to facilitate the recruitment of skilled workers as well as for completion of procedures and legal requirements to obtain visas to Qatar for visit and residency purposes.
The envoy added that the services, which were only available in Qatar in the past after the expatriates had entered the country, will now be provided in their respective countries.
He said the procedures carried out by Qatar Visa Centers do not affect the internal procedures of the country of the expatriates related to travel abroad.
The ambassador thanked Nepalese workers in Qatar for their participation in the country’s development, stressing that Qatar provides an excellent environment for foreign workers, which has been praised by international organisations.
Director of the Visa Support Services Department at the Ministry of Interior Major Abdullah Khalifa al Mohannadi said the Qatar Visa Center in Kathmandu comes as a complement to the project of the procedures for bringing in expatriates.
He said the centre provides many services in the first phase, which include vital data services, medical examination, signing of work contracts, authentication of documents and scientific qualifications, as well as other services.
He added that the other stages of the project will cover all types of visas, whether family, business or tourism as well as other services.
