Transgenders Helped This Man Carry The Body Of His Brother After He Was Denied An Ambulance

This is the umpteenth case of a person from an underprivileged background being denied an ambulance.

Time and again, we hear of such incidents and this time again another heartbreaking story comes from Dehradun when a man was forced to carry the body of his brother from Govt Doon Medical College & Hospital on his shoulder.

According to TOI, the man neither had the money to afford an ambulance nor was the hospital able to provide him one.

The man, identified as Pankaj Kumar, a vegetable seller in the city lost his young brother to tuberculosis on Thursday.

Things turned around when a group of transgenders offered a helping hand. They helped Pankaj Kumar carry his brother all the way to the hospital.

The transgenders went out of their way to collect money and helped him in taking the body in a private vehicle.

“A private ambulance operator that I approached wanted Rs 5000 to ferry the body to my house. However, I just had Rs 1000. I also spoke to 108 ambulance staff who said that their mandate was limited to picking up patients only," he told TOI.

That is the dismal state of medical services in our country.
