Sharjah Announces Major Gas Production Boost as Al Hadiba Expansion Advances

Sharjah is moving forward with its natural gas development plans as work progresses at the Al Hadiba gas field, supporting efforts to strengthen the emirate’s domestic energy supply. The project forms part of a wider strategy to develop local resources and meet growing demand from households, businesses and industries. Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) is overseeing the field’s development as the emirate seeks to improve long-term energy security. Expanding local production could also help reduce reliance on external supplies. The initiative highlights Sharjah’s continued investment in energy infrastructure and resource development.

Al Hadiba Expansion Supports Higher Gas Output

The Al Hadiba field is an important addition to Sharjah’s natural gas portfolio. Located north of the Al Sajaa Industrial Area, it was identified as a promising source of gas and associated liquids in 2024. Subsequent drilling and testing have helped establish the field’s development potential, with the second well confirming additional gas-bearing zones in 2025. The well was drilled to a depth of 13,200 feet as part of ongoing appraisal work. Further development is intended to assess the field’s resources and bring additional production capacity online.

Local Gas Production Strengthens Energy Security

Developing domestic gas resources is important for Sharjah as energy demand continues to grow alongside residential, commercial and industrial activity. Additional production from Al Hadiba could contribute to a more reliable supply and strengthen the emirate’s ability to meet future requirements. SNOC also manages established gas fields and storage infrastructure, which play a role in balancing demand and maintaining supply. Together, these assets support a broader approach to energy planning. Continued exploration and development are expected to remain important elements of Sharjah’s long-term energy strategy.

Sharjah Continues Investing in Energy Infrastructure

The Al Hadiba project reflects Sharjah’s efforts to develop new resources while making effective use of its existing energy infrastructure. SNOC has continued exploring opportunities to increase gas production and improve the emirate’s supply resilience. The pace at which further output becomes available will depend on development work, technical assessments and the connection of wells to production facilities. As the project advances, additional information about output and timelines will help clarify its overall contribution. The expansion represents another step in Sharjah’s plans to support economic growth through a more secure domestic energy supply.
