Turkish Airlines gives UK NHS staff 40 per cent off holiday flight tickets

Turkish Airlines are giving NHS staff all around the world 40 per cent off tickets as a thank you for all their hard work during the pandemic.

The airline is also allowing NHS workers to choose three people to travel with who can also receive the discount meaning it's perfect for families.

The offer was lauched today and tickets will be available until July 18 and will be valid for travel until May 2021.

Announcing the offer, Turkish Airlines said: "Turkish Airlines started a new campaign for the healthcare workers who are working selflessly to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

"With this campaign, all healthcare workers working around the world will be able to fly at 40 per cent discount with their tickets purchased from Turkish Airlines webpage or mobile application.

"Valid for all flights and ticket types of the flag carrier airline, during the campaign, healthcare workers along with three people traveling with them will be able purchase the discounted tickets."

They continued: "Healthcare workers who wish to join the campaign must apply at the campaign page at the Turkish Airlines webpage until July 18, 2020."

"Passengers who applied to the campaign will have the advantage of flying at 40 per cent discount between June 8, 2020 - May 31, 2021 as long as tickets are purchased between June 8 – August 1."

The incredibly generous offer is good news for millions of Brits who have NHS workers in their families and are hoping to jet to Turkey this summer.

According to the FT Brits could be able to visit by the middle of July.

It's understood that government officials in popular Brit holiday destinations hope for "air bridge" deals ahead of the summer holiday season.

An air bridge is an agreement between the UK and one other country, which will let people travel freely between the two nations without going into quarantine when they arrive.

Turkey's Transport Minister Adil Karaismailoglu has said that his country plans to resume flights with around 40 countries in June.

He confirmed Turkey has reached preliminary agreements for reciprocal air travel with 15 countries.

Turkey received 2.6m UK holidaymakers last year and one government official has told the FT an agreement with the UK is close and that a provisional date for the restart of travel between the two countries has been set for July 15.
