If tricking yourself to a gym is hard, it is even harder to finish a workout or spend the requisite time at gym. So, you are not alone if you find yourself leaving gym half way often or not able to push yourself enough to complete a workout. But then that is worse than not joining a gym. You are losing your hard earned money and not gaining anything out of it. So, what can you do about it?

When you talk your brain doesn’t let you focus on the time. It’s definitely easier to focus on pushing yourself when you are trying to chat in between breaths. You would have noticed how doctors and dentists often talk to you when you are on a treatment. They do it on a purpose, to divert your mind. And, diverting your mind eases off the pain and helps you stay motivated. This technique is also used by beauticians who get chitty chatty with you when you get your waxing done. 

By talking, we however don’t mean you make your 2-minute rest session into a 15 minute discussion on movie stars or current events. We mean chatting while also working out, just to keep your attention away from the tough part. Unlike exercises like walking or swimming, working out in a gym needs lot of motivation . It can also be a bit painful when a new workout is added to your regime. 

That is when chatting helps. It makes working out more enjoyable, and exercising with someone else can be quite motivating. You would end up working out longer or faster than you would if you were by yourself, which would make you burn more calories. However, avoid texting on smart phones as it can have a negative implication. It can take your attention totally away. Various studies in fact suggest that it can lead to reduced fitness and health benefits. 

If you are someone who is not naturally very active, motivating yourself to work out better could be like going to office on a Monday after a long festive weekend. 

So, it is time you hit the gym and complete your tasks as well. As we all know hitting the gym will not only help you improve cardiovascular health, build muscle, and get an awesome body, it can boost brain function as well.
