Kuwait Restricts Domestic Worker Recruitment to 10 Countries

The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry issued a strict new circular today. Authorities restricted the recruitment of domestic workers to 10 approved countries. The government simultaneously banned recruitment from 27 other nations.

Updating Labor Regulations

Officials adopted this measure to update domestic labor sector regulations. Several government bodies provided crucial observations and recommendations. The Ministry of Health and Foreign Affairs supported this strict directive.

The Public Authority for Manpower also advised the government on this major shift.

Approved and Banned Countries

Citizens can recruit workers from India, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines safely. The banned list includes Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria. For some countries, the ban applies only to female workers.

Kuwait allows the recruitment of male workers only from Senegal.

Strengthening Sector Oversight

Kuwait wants to regulate the domestic labor market much more efficiently. Officials aim to strengthen sector oversight through revised administrative controls. The new rules took effect across all service centers immediately.
