Oman is introducing a new system where expat workers can get or renew their work visa online, Times of Oman reported citing the Ministry of Manpower. The contract for converting all work visa applications to online has been given to an Estonian company.
The new system is expected to be functional within two years, according to ministry officials, and will be implemented in six phases. This will considerably speed up the visa process once finished.
Oman has already made application to housemaid visa online.
The move will bring cheers to employers, especially the HR staff in companies, who need to shuttle between various government departments and ministries to get necessary clearances as of now.
