5 Botulinum Toxin

It is the naturally occurring most dangerous poison known to mankind. It is estimated that a spoonful of botulinum toxin is enough to kill 1 billion people. It is not possible to kill using isolated botulinum toxin but it a deadly poison due to its naturally occurring toxicity. The poison enters the blood circulation which leads to death. Clostridium botulinum is the bacteria responsible for this toxin and it is found worldwide.

Botulinum toxin is used in medical and cosmetic world to treat migraine headaches, excessive sweating and it is also used to remove wrinkles from female foreheads using Botox. Botulism, which is the lethal form of botulinum toxin, is caused by consuming contaminated food resulting in loss of action in muscles and the bacteria enters the blood stream leading to death.

This food poisoning has killed a lot of people over the centuries but it can be prevented by heating food over 100 degrees Celsius. Botulism can also be caused by infected wounds.
