6.Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival

Launched in 1954, this annual event is the oldest oyster festival in the world. The fest, held each September, features live music, private dinners, beer tastings, the World Oyster Opening Championships, and, of course, plenty of fresh Galway oysters. Next fall marks their 60th anniversary, which is a perfect excuse to book a trip.
