Celebrities they are just like us. They are human, which means just like us, many of them are currently suffering from a severe illness. Although a number of celebrities are very vocal about the illness, some choose to deal with their struggle privately and that is completely his or her choice.
Anyone who has ever dealt with a life-threatening disease knows that it takes a toll on a person. These seven celebrities are each fighting a very serious illness that if not taken care of properly could cost them their lives. But with the way they conduct themselves in the public, you wouldn’t even know they were sick unless they told you.
7. Nick Cannon
Nick Cannon has Lupus, which is a chronic autoimmune disease. His immune system can’t tell the difference between healthy and not healthy tissues. Therefore his body creates autoantibodies that attack and destroy healthy tissue. Cannon has been hospitalized due to kidney failure and blood clots, all because of his Lupus. Although these days he is feeling great, the singer admits that he has to eat properly and take measures to prevent flare-ups every day. If he doesn’t then those flare-ups could cost him his life.
6. Sarah Hyland
Sarah Hyland has been battling Kidney Dysplasia her entire life. In fact, Hyland’s parents were once told their daughter would never live a normal life. At age 21 the Modern Family star underwent a kidney transplant thanks to her father being the perfect match. However, her health is still an issue. The actress had to miss the SAG awards this year for health concerns. Hyland’s weight has decreased due to her current health state, causing her to fight back against body shamers. She has not shared exactly what her current medical state is, only that it has been a rough year for her.
5. Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne suffers from Epilepsy and has suffered seizures his whole life. The disease is referred to as a neurological disorder and is very unpredictable. Although the majority of the time epilepsy can be controlled with medication, there is not a cure. There can be serious complications from the seizures, especially if a person experiences too many in a short period of time. The rapper has been hospitalized and had to cancel numerous concerts because of his Epilepsy. If he is not careful and does not take the proper steps, Lil Wayne could lose his life.
4. Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas suffers from Type 1 Diabetes. His body does not produce enough insulin, resulting in the body not getting glucose into the bloodstream and into the cells of the body. Through blood sugar monitoring, exercising, eating the right foods and managing insulin injections, a person can live a normal life with the disease. However, if not taken care of properly, the disease can cause life-threatening seizures, along with other serious complications like numbness, blindness, and amputation. Jonas has spoken out opening up about how maintaining his glucose levels are his top priority.
