A Palestinian died from the injuries received on Saturday in clashes with Israeli troops on the outskirts of Jerusalem, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Sunday.

Mass protests of the local Arab-Muslim community against Israel's decision to install metal detector frames at the entrances to the Temple Mount, where the third most important Islamic holy place, the al-Aqsa mosque, is located.

"The young man was seriously injured in the chest area in the region of Al-Eizariya, taken to a public hospital in Jericho, then transferred to a medical facility in Ramallah, where the doctors pronounced him dead," the ministry said.

On Friday, Arab neighborhoods around the Old City of Jerusalem have become the scene of clashes between Israeli police and Muslims, which gathered near the Old City to go to the Temple Mount and pray in Al-Aqsa mosque. Many Muslims refuse to go through the detectors installed at the entrances to the holy site after the July 14 Palestinian attack at the Temple Mount, which left two Israeli police officers dead.

Three Palestinians were killed in clashes with police in the Arab districts of Jerusalem, more than 200 were injured. On Saturday and on Sunday night, skirmishes continued, including near the walls of the Old City. According to the Red Crescent, about 60 people were wounded during Saturday clashes.

The Ministry of Health also reported the death of a Palestinian, who, according to his information, had had been blown up by an old landmine in the vicinity of the city of Tulkarm on the West Bank.
